ROKetship cartoonist chronicles
your life in Korea
Just to prove that expatriates who are doing things don't have to have lived here for so long that their mothers don't recognize them, Luke Martin is a Seoul-based cartoonist from Seattle, Washington who has been teaching in Korea with his wife for only a handful of months now.
A cartoonist who obviously draws from his own experiences (pun noted but not intended), in his nine years of work Luke has two published books thus far - The Daily Grind, about his stint as a coffee barista (Available at Amazon.com) and, Rules of Engagement, a web comic about the craziness of a couple, engaged to be married.
It was his wife's suggestion that led Luke to pick up a pencil and start sketching his observations about cultural differences in the RoK versus at home. His biography says, "The strip is a cultural comedy of sorts, which pokes fun at foreign life on this planet called, Korea! It seems like every day is just bursting with quirky inspirations. I have already stuffed a note book full of ideas for new strips." Now, the strip is featured in The Korea Herald, Groove Magazine, and on the delectable little site you're taking in right now.
Like TheYeogiyo.com, Luke wants to reach out to foreigners and reflect your views. As such, if you have any ideas that he might...draw upon...(it's just too easy, see?)...contact him through TheYeogiyo.com or at his site, Rocketship.
